Under the auspices of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Turkey the International Commission of Military History (ICMH) will hold its annual conference in Istanbul, Turkey, from 3-11 September 2016.
Like in previous years, the Educational Committee of the International Commission of Military History invites young PhD. students to take part in a workshop for young scholars who are still working on or have just finished their PhD thesis on a topic which relates to the issue of „preparations for war“.
The purpose of the Workshop is to give young scholars the opportunity of discussing their projects with young as well as experienced colleagues from over 40 Countries.
We expect a presentation of 20 minutes. Some PhD papers may be published in 2017 in the conference proceedings .
Applicants should offer papers dealing with:
- financial
- economic
- cultural or
- infrastructural aspects of war preparations.

Applicants should send their proposals to the Secretary General of the Educational Committee, Prof. Dr. Michael Epkenhans, Centre for Military History and Social Sciences, Zeppelinstrasse 127/28, D-14471 Potsdam, Germany.
The deadline for proposals is 31 March 2016.
The Educational Committee will get in touch with applicants whose paper has been accepted no later than 1 May 2016.
All successful applicants will receive a travel grant of 200€ from the ICMH. The Educational Committee will also try to offer PhD students affordable accommodation and a reduction of the conference fees.
