Forschungsthemen und -perspektiven
Wachsende Städte sind Kristallisationspunkte gesellschaftlicher und wissenschaftlicher Entwicklungen, in denen sich ökonomische Innovationen und technische Errungenschaften ebenso abzeichnen wie soziale Polarisierungen und ökologische Krisen. Globale Entwicklungen und urbane Trends interdisziplinär zu bearbeiten ist wesentlich,
um gesellschaftliche Bedingungen und Perspektiven zu reflektieren und politische Alternativen entwickeln zu können.
Im Mittelpunkt der Tagung stehen die in der Industrialisierung entstandenen Arbeiter/innenviertel, die in wachsenden Städten gegenwärtig besonderen Dynamiken unterliegen und für die lokale Bevölkerung mit vielfältigen Herausforderungen verbunden
sind. Die Zunahme städtischer Bevölkerung, Polarisierungen des Arbeitsmarktes, Aufwertungen des Stadtzentrums, Verknappungen von Wohnraum oder begrenzte städtische Budgets und Flächenkapazitäten führen u.a. dazu, dass die häufig peripherisierten Quartiere des modernen Prekariats zu zentralen Zielgebieten der Stadtentwicklung und staatlicher Politiken werden.
Die Tagung fokussiert auf Transformationsprozesse in acht Themengruppen, zu denen der fachliche Diskurs geführt und innovative Projekte diskutiert werden sollen.

VI. Architektur, neue urbane (Wohn)Formen und leitbares Wohnen
VII. Erneuerbare Energien, Photonik, Energieeffizienz und nachhaltige Sanierung
VIII. Zukunft urbaner Mobilität und innovativer Verkehrsplanung
Hintergrund
Die departmentübergreifende Arbeitsgruppe „Lebensqualität urbaner Räume“ der FH Campus Wien setzt sich im Rahmen von INUAS-Aktivitäten mit urbanen Entwicklungen in wachsenden Städten und Metropolregionen auseinander. Im Kontext des interdisziplinären Forschungsschwerpunkts zu Arbeiter/innenvierteln veranstaltet die FH
Campus Wien die Tagung „Urbane Transformationen und Lebensqualitäten in der wachsenden Stadt“. Diese findet im Rahmen des Projekts „WienerWissensWelt“-Trendradar für Markt und Wissenschaft, gefördert von der Stadt Wien (MA 23), zum Aufbau einer Wissendrehscheibe statt. Ziel der Konferenz ist es, aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse zu diskutieren, gegenwärtige Herausforderungen zu bestimmen und zur nachhaltigen Entwicklung dieser Quartiere beizutragen.
Einreichung von Konferenzbeiträgen
Der Call for Papers richtet sich an Forschende, Absolvent*innen und Studierende unterschiedlicher Disziplinen und Arbeitsfelder, die sich mit urbanen Transformationen auseinandersetzen und mit ihrer Expertise einen Beitrag zur Analyse und nachhaltigen Entwicklung von Arbeiter/innenvierteln leisten wollen. Im Rahmen der Tagung werden
ausgewählte Einreichungen in Form von Impulsen in Panels oder als Poster präsentiert.
Wissenschaftliche Beiträge
Forschende werden gebeten einen Abstract im Umfang von 300 bis 400 Wörtern einzureichen, der einem der acht aufgeführten Themenblöcke zu zuordnen ist.
Abstracts für wissenschaftliche Beiträge sollen Forschungsfrage und methodischen Zugang sowie wesentliche Resultate und Schlussfolgerungen kurz skizzieren. Die Beiträge können in deutscher oder englischer Sprache eingereicht werden. Die Abstracts sind (inkl. Kontaktdaten) als PDF-Datei an isabel.glogar@edu.fhcampuswien.
ac.at bis 15.04.2017 einzureichen. Über die Auswahl der Beiträge
entscheidet eine interdisziplinäre Jury mit Vertreter/innen aus den beteiligten Departments der FH Campus Wien. Ausgewählte Teilnehmer/innen werden Ende Mai informiert.

Kosten
Die Kosten für Anreise und Unterkunft von Referentinnen werden nicht übernommen. Die Tagung selbst ist für Referentinnen frei von Tagungsgebühren.
Sprache
Referate und Diskussionsbeiträge können bei der Tagung in Deutsch oder Englisch gehalten werden.

Research topics and perspectives
Growing cities are focal points of societal and scientific developments, in which economic innovation and technical achievements stand out just as much as social polarization and ecological crises. The interdisciplinary recognition and detection of global developments
and urban trends is substantial for the reflection of societal conditions and perspectives and the development of political alternatives.
At the center of the conference are the working class districts arising from industrialization, which are currently subject to specific dynamics in growing cities and which are connected with various challenges for the local population. The increase of urban population, polarization of the job market, upgrading of the city center, housing shortage or the limited municipal budgets and spatial capacities result among other
things in that the often peripheralized districts of the modern precarity become central target areas of urban development and governmental politics.
The conference focuses on transformative processes in eight thematic blocks, in which the scientific discourse and innovative projects shall be discussed.

Background
The University of Applied Sciences FH Campus Wien‘s interdepartmental project team “Quality of life in urban spaces” researches within the framework of INUAS – activities the urban development of growing cities and metropolitan regions. In the context of this project’s interdisciplinary research focus on working class districts, the University of Applied Sciences FH Campus Wien organizes in cooperation with the City of Vienna (MA 23, as part of the Project „WienerWissensWelt-Trendradar für Markt und Wissenschaft”) the conference on “Urban Transformations and Qualities of Life in the Growing City.” The aim is to discuss current research results, to determine contemporary challenges and to contribute to the sustainable development of these districts.
Submission
The call is aimed at researchers, graduates and students of diverse disciplines and fields who explore urban transformations and want to contribute their expertise towards the analysis and sustainable development of working class districts. Chosen submissions will
be presented as short presentations in panels or as posters.
Paper submissions
Researchers are asked to submit an abstract (300-400 words) in connection with one of the eight listed thematic blocks.
Academic and scientific abstracts should include a research question and the methodological approach as well as significant results and conclusions. The submission is possible in either German or English.
The abstracts (including contact details) are to be forwarded as a PDF-file to isabel.glogar@edu.fh-campuswien.ac.at until 15.04.2017. An interdisciplinary jury consisting of the involved departments’ representatives at University of Applied Sciences FH Campus Wien decides upon the selection of abstracts. Delegates will be notified at the end of May.
Project submissions
Applicants for project submissions are asked to submit an abstract (300-400 words) in connection with one of the eight listed thematic blocks. Abstracts for project presentations should include the project’s concept, its innovative aspects, methods of realization and sustainable implications. The submission is possible in either German or English.
The abstracts (including contact details) are to be forwarded as a PDF-file to isabel.glogar@edu.fh-campuswien.ac.at until 15.04.2017. An interdisciplinary jury consisting of the involved departments’ representatives at University of Applied Sciences FH Campus Wien decides upon the selection of abstracts. Delegates will be notified at the end of May.
Costs
The delegates’ journey and accommodation costs will not be reimbursed. The conference itself is free of costs for delegates.
Language
The presentations and contributions to discussions can be held in either German or English.
