The Institute of Czech Literature is encouraging Ph.D. students, postdocs and senior researchers specialized in Czech or Central European literature and culture to apply for our two programmes, the Josef Dobrovský Fellowship (2, 4, or 6 weeks, for early career researchers up to 35 years) and the Zdeněk Pešat Fellowship (2 or 4 weeks, without age limit). Both provide an opportunity to work on a concrete research project and establish or deepen cooperation with the ICL.

Please consult your application in advance with our deputy director for international cooperation, Mag. Dr. Michael Wögerbauer (zamini@ucl.cas.cz).

Josef Dobrovský Fellowship
is aiming at Ph.D. students and postdocs researchers (usually aged up to 35, other applicants can use the second programme) who are interested in Czech studies in both linguistic and territorial delimitation.

Zdeněk Pešat grant
Among the three visiting fellowships the ICL annually awards, at least one is designed for enhancing the collaboration with the partners within the International Consortium for the Creation and Utilization of World Czech Literary Studies Information Resources (https://clb.ucl.cas.cz/en).

The visiting fellowship is intended for financing two or four-week stays. Applicants for the Zdeněk Pešat grant may come to the ICL between the September 2020 and March 2021. Further information: https://www.ucl.cas.cz/cs/mezinarodni-spoluprace/stipendium-zdenka-pesata

Both fellowships are preferably given those applicants whose projects correspond with the research elaborated at our institute. We specialize in the literary history of the Czech lands (and Central Europe in general) and Czech literary thought from its beginnings to the present day. The focus for our activity consists in large-scale projects in the history, lexicography and theory of literature. An essential element in the activities of the Institute is also its function as a national and international information centre for the field. For further information: https://www.ucl.cas.cz/en
