KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. Education and research spans from natural sciences to all branches of engineering and includes Architecture, Industrial Management and Urban Planning. There are a total of 13,400 first and second level students and almost 1,900 doctoral students. KTH has 4,900 employees.

KTH Architecture and Built Environment focuses on the future of our societies, on how our cities, buildings and infrastructure should be designed. We study growth, technology and environment, as well as ethical considerations and risks. Our curriculum and our research are based on several academic disciplines: Engineering and the Technical sciences, the Humanities, and the Social Sciences.

Environmental history

Duties
The duties include research. Therefore, the duties include applying for external funding and to cooperate in applying to external funding organisations. The duties also include teaching in the courses that the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment offers, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, at KTH and in cooperation with other universities, nationally and internationally. Course development and pedagogical work is an important part of the teaching responsibilities. Supervision of graduate students within the domain of environmental history is also part of the duties. Furthermore, engagement with society is part of the duties. The duties could also include directing smaller or larger groups within the Division for special initiatives or within larger research projects.

Eligibility
Eligibility for appointment as an associate professor in activities not related to the arts is reserved for persons who have:
obtained a doctoral degree or have equivalent academic expertise, or have other professional skills that are relevant to the subject field covered by the position and the required duties, demonstrated teaching expertise, demonstrated the capacity to seek and obtain external funding for research projects and to conduct such projects, and demonstrated the capacity to lead education or research activities.

Assessment criteria
Of special importance to the evaluation is scientific excellence, as shown through national and international publications in the subject field. Ability to cooperate is also of special importance.
Of significant importance is the demonstrated ability to work in an inter- or transdisciplinary manner. The ability to communicate results to audiences beyond the academic is also of significant importance, which can be demonstrated by writing in different genres and also by other means. Pedagogical skill and commitment to pedagogical development is of significant importance. The ability to apply for external funding for research projects, to carry through the tasks and finish is also of significant importance.
Administrative skill and the ability to develop and lead activities and personnel is of importance. This includes awareness of diversity and workplace equality issues, with particular focus on gender equality.
It is desirable to be able to publish both articles and monographs.
