RECRUITMENT OF A DIRECTOR FOR THE CENTER FOR RELIGIOUS STUDIES
(FBK-ISR)

Art. 1
(Subject of the recruitment)

1. FONDAZIONE BRUNO KESSLER (FBK) hereby institutes a selection procedure for the recruitment of a director for FBK-ISR.
FBK is a private research institution inspired by the Constitutional principle of freedom of research, by the non-discrimination rules of the European Union and by the service of the international research community, devoted to excellence in research in numerous disciplines and designated to the role of keeping the Autonomous Province of Trento in the mainstream of European and international research. Each research area is assigned to a specific research center, of which these are seven in total. 2. The CENTER FOR RELIGIOUS STUDIES (FBK-ISR) promotes research in the fields of religious and theological studies with particular attention to key topics and issues linked to other lines of research pursued at Fondazione Bruno Kessler.
The Center’s activities are organized, under the current research plan, around two leading themes: interreligious dialogue – diachronic aspects, comparison of juridical systems, ethics applications, theological and/or juridical foundations.
In addition to research activities, FBK-ISR also hosts an Advanced Course in Religious Studies (CSSR). The course was established by the Congregation for Catholic Education under the Theological Faculty of Triveneto, and provides training for school teachers of Catholic religion while also promoting secular research in the field of religious studies in general. Other educational activity may be implemented in a networking perspective in order to increase the interplay between FBK and the major players of research in the vast area of Religious Studies in Europe and worldwide.


Art. 2
(Requirements)

Eligible applicants are professors, affiliated with public or private universities or research institutes of international standing. Previous international experience and leadership in international teams are necessary requirements to hold the position. Applicants should possess advanced scientific qualification and a well established network of academic relations associated with the international theological debate.

Art. 3
(Roles, duties and level of commitment)

1. The Director is responsible for the overall functioning of the FBK-ISR, answering to the Board of Directors.
2. The commitment requested from the Director is part-time with mandatory core attendance to be agreed.
3. The Director assists the Scientific Committee in its studies and submission of proposals to the Board of Directors.
4. The position of Director is incompatible with that of Chairman, General Manager, or other executive positions inside the FBK, and with membership of the Board of Directors or Scientific Committee.

Art. 4
(Term of office)

1. The term of office of the FBK-ISR Director is three years and may be renewed.
2. The activities of the Director are assessed twice a year by the Board of Directors, in relation to achievement of the objectives outlined and agreed on appointment. If said objectives are not achieved, the Director may be dismissed from her/his position by decree of the FBK President, following a resolution by the Board of Directors.

Art. 5
(Compensation)

1. The salary of the Director is 45.000 €, at a fixed rate and 15.000 € on achievement of objectives (MBO). In the case of appointment of a current FBK employee, his/her present salary will remain unchanged and it will be subtracted from the above mentioned sum.

Art. 6
(Submission of applications)

1. In order to participate in the selection procedure for the appointment of Center Director as per art.1, applicants must complete the following online form: http://hr.fbk.eu/en/jobs
2. Application deadline: 29 October 2015 (12 a.m. GMT+1)
3. Applications must include:
a. a brief statement expressing the applicant ‘s readiness to occupy the position part-time;
b. CV, in English, complete with a list of academic titles and documents testifying professional appointments and experience;
c. a proposal for the development of the center over the next three years;
d. three letters of reference.

Art. 7
(Selection procedure)

1. Initially, candidates will be comparatively assessed by a Selection Committee, which will compile a shortlist of the candidates admitted to the interview process.

Art. 8
(Appointment and assumption of duties)

1. A Director will be appointed by the Chairman of FBK from among the candidates considered most suitable by the Selection Committee, following a resolution of the Board of Directors.
2. A letter of appointment will be sent to the successful candidate, who will have ten days to accept the offer in writing. The temporary contract envisaged for individuals from the private sector or from public entities other than universities or public research bodies and institutes, must in all cases be signed no more than thirty days after the date on which the appointment letter was sent. Failure to accept or sign the contract will invalidate the offer.
3. The starting date for the appointment must be before January 1st, 2016.
