FULL PROFESSOR of
ANTHROPOLOGY/SOCIOLOGY OF HEALTH

starting on 1st February 2017 or on a mutually agreed-upon date.

The Institute is seeking candidates with a well-established track record of teaching and research in this field, together with a solid background in social theory. Candidates must hold a PhD in anthropology or sociology. They should have a versatile teaching portfolio, a strong analytical background and research track-record as well as a proven ability to work with colleagues from other disciplines. They should be interested in interdisciplinary collaborative research. Experience in conducting ethnographic fieldwork in the global South will be an asset.

The successful candidate will teach courses at both the master’s and doctoral levels in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology of Development and supervise master’s dissertations and PhD theses. She or he will also be called upon to teach classes in the Institute’s interdisciplinary programmes and to possibly contribute to executive education’s programmes.

The teaching language is either English or French. Prior knowledge of French is not required, but the successful candidate is expected to acquire at least a passive knowledge of it within two years of being hired.
