GESIS – Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences is an institute of the Leibniz Association internationally active in research in social sciences and financed by the German federal and regional governments. We are seeking for our location in Cologne (Department Knowledge Transfer) starting at the earliest possible date a:

Research Associate (f/m) - TV-L EG 13, 75%, limited to 4 years in the editorial office of „Historical Social Research“ (HSR).

Historical Social Research is an international peer-reviewed journal for the application of formal methods in history. The journal publishes in English, focuses on interdisciplinary research, and is well-read on an international scale. Each year, four issues plus one supplement issue are published. Your key responsibilities and duties will include:
- collaborating with team members in the planning, editing, and production of the issues,
- editing articles for content and proofreading articles for English language use,
- writing abstracts and cover texts,
- corresponding with authors,
- maintaining current and implementing new marketing strategies, and
- maintaining and developing the HSR’s Internet presence (using Typo3).

Your profile:
- graduated with very good results in a relevant discipline, with preference given to graduates in the humanities or social sciences
- native-level English language abilities, with preference given to native speakers,
- ability to work well both independently and as part of a team,
- experience in academic editing is desirable.
