Dear colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that we announce the release of On_Culture: The Open Journal in the Study of Culture, Issue #2: "The Nonhuman."
On_Culture is an open access eJournal, conceptualized and edited by researchers at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC). The journal hosts a wide range of formats and modes of presentation: double-blind peer reviewed scholarly articles and review essays as well as artistic and experimental contributions.
Our second issue focuses on the concept of the nonhuman and engages with a research field that aims to widen the scholarly perspective to include other natural, cultural, and social actors than humans. Scholars in this field have advocated research that takes into account the various complex relations of humans and nonhumans in contemporary as well as historical cultural and social formations.
In this context, our issue sheds light on the concept of the nonhuman through the lens of various fields such as material culture studies, literary studies, media studies, organization studies, and (political) philosophy.
