Der Band verfolgt die Problematik des 21. Jahrhunderts, dass wir, bei Einhaltung der universalen Menschenrechte, zentrale religiöse Gebote aushebeln. Eine befriedigende Lösung dieses Problems steht in den USA wie in Europa noch aus. Gleichzeitig erleben wir, dass autoritäre Staaten, die auf Menschenrechte pfeifen, "ihre" Religionsgemeinschaften – wie z. B. die Russisch-Orthodoxe Kirche – darin bestärken, Menschenrechte zu ignorieren. Eine brisante Mixtur.
