Responsibilities
The Hans Sigrist Foundation Fellow (PhD Fellowship, 3 years, http://www.sigrist.unibe.ch/) will carry out research in the field of Intercultural theology from a historical perspective. Under the guidance of Prof. Katharina Heyden and Prof. Martin Sallmann, the fellow will write a doctoral thesis in the field of the History of Christianity (from 2nd century to recent times), with a special focus on ecumenical, intercultural or interreligious subjects.
He or she will be trained in the advanced methods of Historical Theology and will benefit from the institute's infrastructure for promoting young researchers.

Requirements
The successful candidate holds a Master's degree or equivalent in Theology, History, or Interreligious Studies. In his or her previous academic education, she or he has shown a special interest in History of Christianity as well as Intercultural or Ecumenical Studies.
Strong language (German and English) and interpersonal skills are expected. The candidate will enroll in the Bern-Basel-Zürich-Doctoral Programme in Theology: www.doktorat-theol-babezue.org

Further information
The 100% position is funded for three years through the Hans Sigrist Foundation from 1st October 2017 (date negotiable).
The salary will match the current base salary paid by the Swiss National Science Foundation for Ph.D. candidates (47,000 to 50,000 CHF per annum). A workplace will be provided.
