Online Networking Meet-Up
on 27 November 2024, 5-6:30 pm CET

The role of gender and diversity in warfare and the military is currently being debated in an emerging interdisciplinary field of research with high societal relevance. The new research network on “Military, War, and Gender/Diversity” (known by its German acronym MKGD) offers a platform for international research which highlights the connective histories of organized violence and gender relations.

Military, War, and Gender/Diversity (MKGD) Research Network

The role of gender and diversity in warfare and the military is currently being debated in an emerging interdisciplinary field of research with high societal relevance. The new research network on “Military, War, and Gender/Diversity” (known by its German acronym MKGD) offers a platform for international research which highlights the connective histories of organized violence and gender relations. Our aim is to systematically promote this research approach, i.e. gender/diversity in connection to the military, violence and war, through intensive collaboration. The network was officially founded on 11 March 2024 and currently unites over thirty cooperating researchers from various disciplines at universities and institutions in eight countries, as well as many more on our mailing list.

An important number of early career scholars are currently engaged in or embarking on work in this field of research. We would therefore like to offer an opportunity to meet, network, and collaboratively think about further possibilities of an institutionalized early-career representation in the international research network MKGD. We invite advanced Masters’ students, PhD candidates, recent PhDs, and PostDocs of all countries to our

Online Networking Meet-Up

In an informal gathering, we propose to discuss topics such as:
- visibility for new research,
- peer feedback and collaborative work,
- workshops/meet the experts (e.g. on publication possibilities, writing, project proposals etc.),
- current trends in theory and methodology (e.g. for reading groups etc.),
- new ideas not listed here.

Programm

We propose an 'Online Networking Meet-Up' on the 27.11.24 from 17:00 to 18:30 CET during which we will discuss various topics of interest.
