Minerva-School for Ph.D-students
The Center for German Studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva and the Seminar für Kulturwissenschaft (Culture Science) at Humboldt University in Berlin invite Ph.D-students and young scholars to submit papers on the topic of gender, memory and media in Germany and Israel. The graduate school will explore the representation of memory of the Shoah/Holocaust in Israelian and German Film and Theatre under the perspective of gender. Papers concerning the following topics are requested:
• The depiction of female and male memories in theatre and film
• Women’s memory. Theatre and film by female artists
• Who is to remember how? Gender roles and remembrance in Israel and Germany
• Body memory: the gendered body as means of memory in theatre
• Gender and national identity
• Which gender are you?
I On the gender of cultural memory (film and theatre)
• Which gender are you?
II On the use of gender roles in cultural memory (film and theatre)
Applications should include an abstract (app.300-400 words, 1 ½ pages) and a short CV. Proposals should be sent until December 12, 2004 to the following address:
