Summary:
Supra-, Ultra- or Pan-Nationalism? Which of these principles will determine Ukraine's future? Will Kyiv seek gradual integration into the EU and embrace the Union's supra-national approach, with its first institutional expressions, an Association Council, Association Committee and Parliamentary Association Committee, already foreseen in the initialed EU-Ukraine Association Agreement? Or will Ukraine eventually succumb to Russia's neo-imperial so-called "Eurasian" scheme, and become an integral part of the Kremlin's supposedly pan-Slavic "Russian World" (russkii mir)? Or will the radical, Galicia-based ethno-nationalism of parties like the so-called All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda," and the historical debate around the OUN legacy isolate the country, and, in the worst case, tear it apart? In this lecture and the following discussion, we will analyze the contents and implications of these different projects for Ukraine's future, and try to determine which scenario or combination of scenarios is most likely to materialize.

The event will take place on 16 April 2013 (Tuesday) from 16:45 to 18:15 in Vilnius University's Institute of International Relations and Political Science, room 303, during Jovita Neliupšienė lecture "Belarus and Ukraine Studies."
