Why Is There So Little Green in Czech and Slovak History? A Workshop and Poster Session on the Horizons of Multi- and Interdisciplinary Cooperation in Environmental History

What do think Czech and Slovak historians think nowadays about environmental history? Why is environmental history in Czechia and Slovakia still regarded as the study of physical changes of nature rather than in the context of the historical development of the Czech and Slovak Republics and their respective social, political and cultural histories? We consider these and other questions when we look at the current state of environmental history in Czechia and Slovakia.
The aim of the workshop is to present different perspectives on environmental history and propose a definition of this field, as the subject is considered elsewhere: as a discipline engaged with the interactions between humans and their environment in the context of political, social and cultural changes of societies.

Our goal is to establish a common platform for discussions between representatives from the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, who are involved in environmental history. What is the future of environmental history going to be like in Czechia and Slovakia?
