Organised by the Institute of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies - both University of Münster - the aim of the conference "Cyprus in Medieval Times – A Place of Cultural Encounter" is to shed light on the multifacited history and culture of Cyprus from Late Antiquity to the Ottoman conquest in 1571.
In their papers the scholars invited for this conference will analyse and discuss the island’s political situation within the Eastern Mediterranean, its cultural development under changing ruling elites and its important role as a mediator between East and West.
