Enjoy a summer of study in the Celtic-language heartland of Bangor, Gwynedd (GB)

Bangor University is a world-leading institution for teaching and research in Welsh and Celtic Studies. This summer you have the opportunity to take part in our Celtic Studies Summer School programme.

Literature, History & Archaeology Summer School
8 - 19 July

A fully interdisciplinary Summer School. Lectures and seminars provide a detailed introduction to the study and appreciation of Wales, her language, history and culture, from pre-history to the medieval and modern.

Teaching takes place in the university and on guided tours, taking full advantage of the rich literary and historical heritage of this breath-taking part of Wales.

The nearby town of Caernarfon is a UNESCO World Heritage site and much of the material studied on the Summer School is steeped in the local history and landscape.

You can extend your Summer School by taking optional weeks in Welsh Language, or an Archaeological dig.

Welsh-Language Summer School
17 June – 5 July or 24 June – 5 July

This intensive course immerses students in the Welsh language for two weeks (or three for absolute beginners).

Dig Week
There is an optional dig week which will give students the opportunity to gain practical field experience by excavating an Iron Age settlement, Meillionydd on the the Llŷn Peninsula. Please enquire for further details.
