Call for Articles: "Europe" (Special Issue)

Ennen&nyt (http://www.ennenjanyt.net/in-english/) is a Finnish scientific journal. The journal publishes peer-reviewed original research articles, research notes, as well book reviews. The journal’s mission is to track new, actual and trending research topics in history and social sciences. Ennen & nyt is a full open access publication, i.e. there is no publication fee and all articles are available online and free of charge. The editor-in-chief is PhD Lauri Keskinen.

With this CfA Ennen & nyt invites all scholars in history and social sciences focusing on Europe and European affairs (both widely understood) to send a proposal for the Special Issue “Europe” (Issue 1, 2020 – February/March). All proposals should have their focus on the contemporary (20th and 21st century) Europe and European affairs. Inside this framework, no other limitations as regards topics, approaches, sources, or methods apply. All proposals are evaluated against their scientific content and merits. The main aim of this Special Issue is to present the many faces of contemporary European studies in regard to topics, approaches, materials, as well to methodical and theoretical choices.

Scholars interested in contributing to this Special Issue are kindly ask to submit a short proposal (max. 250 words) and a preliminary title to the visiting editor, Dr Kimmo Elo (kimmo.elo@utu.fi). The deadline for submissions is 31 May, 2019. The accompanying mail should include the contact details of the corresponding author and a clearly stated information, whether the proposal is for a peer-reviewed original research article, a research note, or for a book review.

Articles proposed for this Special Issue may be written in English, Finnish or Swedish.

All proposals submitted to this Special Issue will be evaluated by the journal’s editorial board, which makes the final decision about articles selected for the publication. All original research articles will be subject to a peer-review process. Research notes and book reviews will be evaluated by the editorial board. Authors of proposals selected for this Special Issue will be informed in June 2019 with a decision letter containing detailed information about the publication process.
