The fellowship program, funded by an endowment from the Marga and Kurt Möllgaard Foundation, enables the GEI to support guest researchers from the Ukraine and neighboring countries in central and Eastern Europe. The Institute has traditionally had a strong focus on this region, which has resulted in decades’ worth of accumulated Eastern European expertise.
The aim of the fellowship is to support and promote academic work in the fields of textbook and educational media research. Applications are welcome from doctoral candidates and established academics, as well as individuals both in Germany and around the world who work on textbook research or composition, for textbook publishers or whose didactic work influences curricula and textbooks. The GEI grants enable recipients to spend a dedicated period using the institute’s research library and meeting with colleagues to exchange ideas and information.
Research fellows receive a monthly grant of 1,000 EUR. Fellowships generally cover stays from one to three months. The fellowship includes accommodation in one of the Institute’s guest apartments. Applicants can also apply for a contribution towards travel costs. The decision to reimburse travel costs will be decided separately according to the availability of annual funds.
