One Ph.D. Position in Religious and Cultural Studies – Call for Applications

The joint project between Ilia State University (ISU) in Tbilisi and Georg-August-University of Göttingen (UGOE) gives the selected Ph.D. student the opportunity to pursue their doctoral project within a structured Cotutelle-based framework. The Ph.D. student will undergo supervision and conduct doctoral studies (coursework, seminars, trainings etc.) at ISU in Tbilisi/Georgia and UGOE in Göttingen/Germany (research period at UGOE 12 months in total). Upon successful completion of the doctoral project doctoral degrees from the Georg-August-University of Göttingen (UGOE) and Ilia State University (ISU) can be obtained on the basis of only one single dissertation. One full scholarship is announced in the discipline Religious and Cultural Studies. Research-related expenses incurred by conference participation and field studies can be covered as well.

Proposed Research Subjects:
1. Interconfessional and/or interreligious coexistence in a specific region (choice of the applicant) (approach might be by history or by present time, comparative for example between Georgia and Armenia, or empirical)
2. Identity-construction of religious minorities in a specific region (choice of the applicant) (approach might be by history or by present time, comparative for example between Georgia and Armenia, or empirical)
3. Religion in the context of interculturality and internationalization in a specific region (choice of the applicant)
