The Berlin-based Forum Transregionale Studien invites scholars to apply for up to 3 visiting fellowships for 3-months in Berlin in the period from October 1, 2019 to July 31, 2020 within the framework of the research program
PRISMA UKRAÏNA – Research Network Eastern Europe
Ukraine is a “Gate of Europe” located at the crossroads of languages, religions and political cultures. In this program Ukraine serves as a prism through which new perspectives on current questions become possible. In the coming academic year the following research issues are of particular interest to us:
(1) genealogy and change of political ideas and identities,
(2) mobility and immobility, diversity and inequality.
The fellowship is open to postdoc scholars from all fields of social sciences and humanities, as well as to authors, journalists and civil society activists who want to carry out their research projects in connection with the PRISMA UKRAÏNA program.
We welcome project proposals on contemporary and historical topics related to Eastern and Central Europe (broadly defined).
The successful applicants will be fellows of PRISMA UKRAÏNA at the Forum Transregionale Studien, and associated members of one of the university or non-university research institutes listed below.

PRISMA UKRAÏNA – Research Network Eastern Europe has been initiated in 2016 at the Forum Transregionale Studien. It builds upon the work of the Berlin Brandenburg Ukraine Initiative. PRISMA UKRAÏNA is directed by the historian Prof. Dr. Andrii Portnov (Chair of Entangled History of Ukraine at the European University Viadrina, Frankfurt/Oder) and steered by a collegium of Berlin- and Brandenburg-based scholars of Eastern Europe and aims at connecting research expertise in Berlin and across Europe. It is funded by the Senate of Berlin. The Visiting Fellowships are funded by the Zeit-Stiftung and the Marga und Kurt Möllgaard-Stiftung.
