Die Basel Graduate School of History (BGSH) nimmt Bewerbungen für drei einjährige Startstipendien entgegen (Stipendienstart: 1. April 2020).
Ihre Aufgaben
Die Stipendien dienen der Unterstützung während der Startphase Ihres Doktorats. In den ersten sechs Monaten der Stipendienlaufzeit erarbeiten Sie einen Förderantrag, mit dem Sie sich beim Schweizerischen Nationalfonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung oder bei einer anderen Förderinstitution um die weitere Finanzierung Ihres Promotionsprojektes bewerben.
Ihr Profil
Die Stipendien richten sich an Studierende, die über einen Masterabschluss oder einen gleichwertigen Abschluss in den Geschichtswissenschaften verfügen und die in einem der folgenden Bereiche promovieren möchten: Geschichte des Mittelalters, Geschichte der Frühen Neuzeit, Neuere und Neueste Geschichte, Osteuropäische Geschichte, Afrikanische Geschichte, Jüdische Geschichte, Globalgeschichte. Erwartet wird eine hohe Motivation, sich als aktives Mitglied in die BGSH einzubringen und ein eigenständiges, mehrjähriges Forschungsprojekt durchzuführen. Was wir bieten
Die Basel Graduate School of History bietet ein strukturiertes Graduiertenstudium in einem intellektuell anregenden Umfeld. Doktoranden und Doktorandinnen der BGSH profitieren vom engen wissenschaftlichen Austausch, gemeinsamen Workshops und Forschungskolloquien, einem weit gefächerten internationalen und interdisziplinären Netzwerk sowie Angeboten zur Unterstützung ihrer Forschungsaktivitäten und zur Realisierung eigener wissenschaftlicher Veranstaltungen. Das Stipendium ist mit 30‘000 Fr. dotiert und wird in zwei Tranchen (mit Zwischenevaluation) ausbezahlt.

Bewerbungen von Doktorierenden, die bereits an anderen Hochschulen promovieren, werden nicht berücksichtigt. Startstipendiat/innen müssen sich als Doktorierende an der Universität Basel immatrikulieren.

Starter scholarships of the Basel Graduate School of History
The Basel Graduate School of History (BGSH) is offering three 1-year starter scholarships (Start date: 1st of April 2020).
Your tasks
The purpose of the scholarships is to support you during the starting phase of your doctorate. Within the first six months of your scholarship, you must develop a grant application for your doctoral project and submit it to the Swiss National Science Foundation, or another funding institution.
Your profile
The scholarships are intended for graduates who hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification in History, and who are interested in carrying out research in one of the following areas: Medieval History, Early Modern History, Modern and Contemporary History, Eastern European History, African History, Jewish History, Global History. A high level of motivation is expected, with the ability to carry out a research project independently over the course of several years as an active member of the BGSH, and to contribute to academic debates both within and outside the Department of History. What we offer
The Basel Graduate School of History offers a structured graduate studies programme in history within an intellectually inspiring environment. Doctoral students at the BGSH benefit from a rich scholarly exchange, joint workshops and research seminars, and a vast international and interdisciplinary network. Moreover, the BGSH offers further instruments to pursue your doctoral project and supports the realization of own scholarly events. The 1-year scholarship amounts to CHF 30,000 and is paid in two tranches (with intermediate evaluation).

Applications can be submitted in German, French, or English. Applicants who are about to complete their studies can apply, provided that they can submit an official graduation certificate no later than 10 February 2020. Applications from doctoral students already enrolled at other institutions will not be considered. Holders of a starter scholarship must enrol as PhD students at the University of Basel.

Bourses de début de thèse de la Basel Graduate School of History
La Basel Graduate School of History (BGSH) met au concours trois bourses de début de thèse d’une durée d’une année (Début de la bourse: 1er avril 2020).
Vos tâches
Les bourses doivent servir à soutenir les doctorants et doctorantes durant la phase de début de thèse. Au cours des six premiers mois, les boursiers et boursières doivent déposer une demande de subvention pour leur projet de thèse auprès du Fonds National Suisse pour la recherche scientifique ou d’une autre institution d’encouragement.
Votre profil
Les bourses s’adressent à des étudiants et étudiantes qui possèdent un Master ou équivalent en histoire et qui désirent faire des recherches dans l'un des domaines suivants: histoire médiévale, histoire moderne, histoire contemporaine, histoire de l'Europe de l'Est, historie africaine, histoire juive, histoire mondiale. En tant que membre actif de la BGSH, les doctorantes et doctorants doivent faire preuve d’une grande motivation, de la capacité à mener à bien un projet de recherche original et se déroulant sur plusieurs années, et enfin s’investir personnellement dans des débats scientifiques à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur du Département d’histoire. Nous offrons
La Basel Graduate School of History offre un programme doctoral structuré en sciences historiques dans un environnement intellectuellement stimulant. Les doctorant(e)s de la BGSH bénéficient d’un intense débat intellectuel, de workshops et séminaires de recherche et d'un dense réseau interdisciplinaire et international. En outre, la BGSH vous offre d’autres instruments pour poursuivre votre projet de doctorat et soutient la réalisation d'événements scientifiques propres. La bourse est dotée de 30'000 CHF et sera versée en deux tranches (avec évaluation intermédiaire).
