The Department for the Study of Culture at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a position as Full Professor in Philosophy. The position is available starting 1 September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The candidates should have a strong record in at least one of the department’s central research focus areas, such as epistemology, especially social epistemology and the intersection of epistemology, cognitive science and/or philosophy of mind and language, or the development of new approaches to ethics that are more sensitive to real-world concerns and constraints than traditional moral theories.
Qualifications within the history of philosophy and/or modern continental philosophy would also be appreciated. The candidate is expected to teach both within and outside the philosophy curriculum (e.g. in interdisciplinary programs) and to contribute to the development of the philosophy programs and to the collegial academic and teaching environment more generally, to engage in research communication, to be willing and able to take on administrative tasks as well, and to have a clear potential for attracting external funding.

The applicant is asked to include a vision for the future profile of Philosophy at the Department for the Study of Culture in terms of both research and education. The vision is expected to address comparative national and international perspectives and possible cooperations as well as the issue of societal relevance and impact. Reflections on how Philosophy relates to the general strategy of the university (https://www.sdu.dk/en/om_sdu/sdus_profil/strategi) are welcome.
