Professorship (f/m/d) in the History of Architecture (W2)

YOUR TASKS
The successful candidate will represent the field of the history of architecture in teaching and research. They will teach and serve in Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes and participate in the interdisciplinary activities of the Institute of Art History. They will be expected to take part in academic self-governance, to develop research projects, and to participate in research programming of the faculty. The position is intended to cooperate with the Ungers Archiv für Architekturwissenschaft (Ungers Archive for Architectural Studies).
YOUR PROFILE
We seek an individual whose research takes special consideration of architecture as a part of art history, and as a constitutive element of urban and social spaces. The candidate‘s work should attend to the theoretical discourses derived from such an integrated approach to architectural history.
The successful candidate will have a research focus in architecture and/or building studies of one or more historical periods. Their competencies in the theory of architecture, in historical building research, and in monuments preservation/cultural heritage will be expressed both in teaching and research. Evidence of interdisciplinary compatibility, experience in national and international cooperation, and success in external funding applications are desirable.

The position is to be filled by April 1, 2021. Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).
