The CoE EurAsia undertakes comprehensive research on the transformation processes in Eurasia, encompassing the combined landmasses of Europe and Asia and serving as a focal point of scholarly discourse from antiquity to the present (https://www.oeaw.ac.at/eurasian-transformations/). Within this broad spectrum of research, the interdisciplinary DC Austrian Studies focuses on the ‘cultural space’ produced by different societies along the timeline from the Holy Roman Empire to the Habsburg Monarchy to the immediate present of the Second Republic and its complex interrelationships (see https://www.uibk.ac.at/dk-austrianstudies/index.html.de). Key issues are questions of identity as well as transnational perspectives on a Central European empire whose networks and connections continue to have an impact today.
