DFG Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1472 “Transformations of the Popular”
The CRC is an interdisciplinary research network consisting of 18 projects and more than 60 scientists from the fields of literature studies, media studies, linguistics, history, music, education, social sciences, art history as well as theology and business administration, collaborating with national and international cooperation partners for a period of four years. The CRC will be funded by the DFG from January, 1st 2021. The CRC deals with interrelated, interdisciplinary research on the causes and consequences of the epochal erosion of the culturally dominant high/low axiology in the course of the development of quantifying methods of measuring attention and its popularisation. The CRC is divided into three areas of research „pop“, „popularisation“ and „populisms“.

Your tasks:
- Collaboration in the CRC sub-project "Popular History in digital games between mainstreaming and diversification" (see more at https://popkultur.uni-siegen.de/sfb1472/subprojects/, subproject B05), working in the field of “History reception: personal appropriation and reception of popular history”. In a large-scale oral history study, this research area explores the perception and appropriation of history through the use of digital games
- Participation in publications in relevant journals and in scientific lectures
- Participation in the realisation of the interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Centre with its different formats of cooperation
Your profile:
- A scientific university degree (diploma, master's degree, or comparable) with an above-average grade and a focus on modern and contemporary history
- Knowledge of history in popular media and especially in digital games
- The willingness to delve deeper into the topic of popularising history and the popularity of media, especially digital games, images of history and their conveyance in digital games for an entertainment market
- Experience in the conception, implementation and evaluation of oral history interviews
- Experience in the cooperative processing of research projects and the ability to work well in a team
- Very good knowledge of English and German
