The Wiener Library is the world’s oldest Holocaust archive and the home of Britain’s largest collection of published and unpublished works, documents and photographs relating to the Nazi era. We are seeking a qualified Archivist or Librarian to join the Collections Team in a permanent, full-time post to manage our Photo Archive. For someone with an interest in modern history this is an opportunity to help develop Britain’s foremost collection of photographs regarding the Holocaust, its causes and consequences.
We are currently undergoing significant changes to put in place a robust digital infrastructure and as Photo Archivist you would be playing a key part in future-proofing the Library. As we are a small organisation we are looking for someone who is a good team player willing to be involved in other projects as necessary. Main duties include:

- Actively developing the photo collection by seeking new material
- Accessioning and cataloguing new material
- Evaluating and accessioning donations of photo collections
- Facilitating public access to the photo collection
- Dealing with photo enquiries
- Marketing the photo collection
- Training workshops to facilitate access to the photo collections
- Continuing the digitisation of the photo archive
- Working with partner organisations to maximise commercial use of the collection
- Maintaining standards of image capture and metadata
- Collaborating with the Digital Team to implement the digitisation infrastructure
- Overseeing in-house digitisation processes
- Building a network of contacts in other archives and museums and among relevant experts
- Championing the benefits of new technologies to assist access to photographic and digital material.
- Providing regular and clear progress reports
