Call for Papers

Studien zur deutschen Sprache und Literatur (Journal of German Language and Literature) is a peer-reviewed international academic journal founded in 1954 by Istanbul University’s Department of German Language and Literature. It is published biannually (June & December).
The journal publishes disciplinary and/or interdisciplinary, theoretical and/or applied research articles that focus on German language and literature in the following fields: literary studies, linguistics, semiotics, cultural studies, communication studies, film studies, media studies, German films, German media, Austrian films, Swiss Films, Turkish-German Cinema, disability studies and films, German-Jewish studies, adaptation studies, intermediality and transmediality in narratives, comics and manga studies, visual studies, migration and postmigration in German narratives, German utopian studies, German dystopian studies, utopia and/or dystopia in German literature, utopia and/or dystopia in German films, utopia and/or dystopia in German art, utopia and/or dystopia in German comics, utopia and/or dystopia in German mass media, utopia and/or dystopia in German television series, posthumanism and/or transhumanism in German narratives, German literary history, Turkish-German relations in literary history, Austrian literary history, Swiss literary history, German-Jewish relations in literary history, holocaust and memory studies, medieval studies and medieval German literature. The journal also offers book reviews of scientific books and news of national and international conferences which cover the mentioned fields.
Studien zur deutschen Sprache und Literatur is indexed in Elsevier SCOPUS, Web of Science Clarivate Analytics Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Erih Plus, MIAR, MLA International Bibliography, EBSCO Communication Source, EBSCO Central & Eastern European Academic Source, Proquest, DOAJ, TR-INDEX (ULAKBIM) andSOBIAD. The journal accepts articles written in one of the following languages: German, English and Turkish.
For the new issue we call for papers related to German language and literature and from the fields of study on topics mentioned above. The manuscripts should be formatted according to the 6th edition of the APA. Articles for submission must be previously unpublished and should not be under evaluation or in the process of being published for another journal. Two 200-250 words abstracts for the article should be submitted in the original language and in English. In addition, an extended abstract of 600-800 words in English should also be attached at the beginning of the article. For the articles written in English an extended abstract is not necessary. All submissions will be (double-blind) peer-reviewed.
The deadline for submitting articles is January 17, 2025.
