First notice: THE 9th CELTIC CONFERENCE IN CLASSICS

The Ninth Celtic Conference in Classics will be held at University College Dublin from 22-25 June 2016. Suggestions are now invited, from established scholars anywhere in the world, for panels on any scholarly theme centred on ancient Greece or Rome.

The Celtic Conference by tradition consists of a number of panels running in parallel and on well-defined themes. Many panels in the past have given rise to published collective volumes, reflecting the conference's commitment both to accomplished scholarship and to coherence around the advertised theme of each panel. Every panel has around 15 hours available for lectures and discussion, spread over the three days of the event. Most panels consist of 12-15 speakers, though small panels (8-10 speakers) are also acceptable. Speakers are usually given 40 minutes + 10 minutes of discussion, though often a panel contains a few shorter presentations.

Scholars who propose panels, to be chaired by themselves or immediate colleagues, may be asked to liaise with the organisers from time to time on recruitment of speakers.

The languages of the Celtic Conference in Classics are English and French.

Premier appel à communications : LA IXe CELTIC CONFERENCE IN CLASSICS (CCC), ou colloque franco-britannique en sciences de l'Antiquité.

La IXe Celtic Conference in Classics se tiendra à University College Dublin les 22-25 juin 2016. Les propositions de sujets de communication sont désormais les bienvenues, de la part de chercheurs où qu’ils exercent, pour des panels centrés sur n’importe quel thème de recherche universitaire portant sur l’antiquité gréco-romaine.

Traditionnellement la Celtic Conference consiste en un certain nombre de panels (ateliers) en sessions parallèles, portant sur des thèmes bien définis. Un grand nombre de panels ont donné suite par le passé à des publications d’ouvrages collectifs, ce qui montre bien l’engagement du congrès en faveur d’une recherche de qualité et d’une cohérence thématique à l’intérieur de chaque panel. Chaque panel dispose d’environ 15 heures pour des communications et des discussions, réparties sur les trois jours du congrès. La plupart des panels comprennent 12-15 intervenants, même si les petits panels (8-10 intervenants) sont aussi envisageables. Les intervenants ont en général 40 minutes de temps de parole, suivi de 10 minutes de discussion, même si souvent un panel compte quelques communications plus brèves.

Les chercheurs qui proposent des panels, qu’ ils les président eux-mêmes ou que ces panels soient présidés par des collègues proches, devront faire le point de temps en temps sur le recrutement des intervenants.

Les langues officielles de la Celtic Conference sont le français et l’anglais. La participation de collègues français est vivement souhaitée.

Les propositions de communications pour les panels doivent être envoyées jusqu’au 30 septembre 2015, même si les projets reçus après cette date seront aussi bienvenus.
