I am in the course of putting together a proposal for an edited book entitled "Memorialisation in Germany since 1945". I put out a call for papers to H-Soz-u-Kult a few months ago on this topic and received many excellent abstracts which will, in part, form the basis of the edition. However, I am still looking for abstracts on the memorialisation of periods in German history OTHER THAN the Third Reich and the GDR. How, for instance, was the 1871-1918 period memorialised after 1945? Or the Weimar Republic? How were the leading figures in German history - e.g. Luther, Goethe, Frederick the Great memorialised? I am interested in proposals covering memorialisation in the whole 1945-2007 period, but a more limited focus is also welcome. As I wish to finalise the book proposal within the next month, could I ask potential contributors to send me a 250-word abstract IN ENGLISH and BY EMAIL by 22nd April at the very latest.
