For an edited collection on "The Sinking of the 'Wilhelm Gustloff' in History and Memory", I am looking for one more chapter. The volume, which will be in English, currently contains chapters on the history of the ship, the research undertaken into the sinking by the "Forschungsstelle Ostsee", commemoration in West Germany (comparing this to commemoration of the "Cap Arcona" sinking in the GDR), and the portrayal of the sinking in feature films, documentary films and recent works of fiction ("Im Krebsgang"). However, I would also welcome a chapter looking at the role played by the "Wilhelm Gustloff" in recent exhibitions and debates about exhibitions ('Erzwungene Wege", "Flucht, Vertreibung, Integration"). Other ideas for an additional chapter are also welcome. If you would be interested, please contact me as soon as possible, as the contents of the volume are in the course of being finalised. The contribution itself will not be needed until August 2009, although a workshop on the theme is planned for May 2009 in Nottingham.
