Proposals are invited for panels and papers for the 2012 Annual Conference of the British Association of Slavonic and East European Studies (BASEES). We are particularly keen to receive proposals for complete panels but we are also happy to receive paper proposals that the organising committee will try to put together into panels.

At its post-conference meeting the BASEES committee established a conference organising group for 2012 with separate panel streams on:

(i) Culture and Literature: Dr Sarah Hudspith (s.f.hudspith@leeds.ac.uk)

(ii) Languages/Linguistics: Dr Dagmar Divjak (d.divjak@sheffield.ac.uk)

(iii) Politics/International Relations: Dr Allan Sikk (a.sikk@ssees.ucl.ac.uk)

(iv) History: Dr Matthias Neumann (m.neumann@uea.ac.uk)

(v) Economics/Political Economy/Industrial Relations/Regional policy: Professor Martin Myant
(martin.myant@uws.ac.uk)

(vi) Sociology/Social Anthropology/Geography/Social Policy: Dr Jon Oldfield
(j.oldfield@lbss.gla.ac.uk)

(vii) Film/Media/Gender Studies: Dr Jeremy Hicks (j.g.hicks@qmul.ac.uk)

To propose a panel or a paper you will need to fill in a proposal form. There are separate forms for panels and papers and each is in .rtf format. The forms can be downloaded from the BASEES website http://www.basees.org.uk/conference.shtml. You should download the appropriate form and fill it in electronically, and send it electronically to the appropriate subject stream organiser AND to the conference email address. We are particularly keen to hear from postgraduate students. Postgraduate members of BASEES who present papers are eligible to apply for financial support towards their conference costs.

The deadline for all your suggestions is 15 September 2011 but it will greatly assist us if you can send us your views in the nearest future.

Academic Conference Organiser: Dr Cathie Carmichael, School of History, University of East Anglia, Norwich NR4 7TJ (cathie.carmichael@uea.ac.uk)
