“Cuadernos de Historia Contemporánea” (CHC) is a well-known Spanish academic journal, devoted to the wide field of modern and contemporary history. It is edited by the department of Contemporary History of the Complutense University of Madrid and published by the Publishing House of the University. After more than thirty years, we have become one of the most important journal in the area of contemporary history in Spain and one of the most important within the Latin-American scientific community.

The journal is published yearly; every volume has usually a monographic part (some articles about a single topic, edited by a well-known specialist) and diverse articles about different problems and issues. There is a strong part of reviews of important books about contemporary history. You can take a look to the usual contents of our journal here:

The journal has a good impact factor and it is indexed in: European Reference Index for the Humanities (ERIH), Historical Abstract, Periodicals Index Online, Dialnet, Base de Datos Isoc and Catálogo Latindex.

We welcome historians of modern and contemporary history (since 1789 to the present) in all its fields to participate in the journal by sending individual articles or proposing thematic volumes (“Dossiers”). We accept articles in Spanish and English languages, whereby “Dossiers” in English should have an introduction in Spanish too.

The deadline for single articles is May, the 30th, whereby for "dossiers" proposals we would like to get them before December the 31.

CHC List of Topics:
The topics of CHC extends, but not limited, to the following:
