"New Developments in Russian Moderate and Radical Nationalism"
A NEORUSS Workshop at Moscow (exact location TBA) on 25 October 2013, at 10:00-19:00

We are inviting proposals for papers for the below workshop in Moscow on October, 25th, 2013, at a location yet to be determined.

Please, provide for your paper:
- an abstract of the paper of approx. 200 words
- a brief CV of approx. 100 words

Please, read the below outline, and formulate your proposal accordingly. We reserve the right to reject proposals that do not fit the format or purpose of the workshop. This workshop is an academic meeting. That means that we will neither host panels with nationalist activists nor accept paper proposals from applicants insufficiently published in relevant scholarly journals.

We regret that we cannot cover travel or any other expenditures of the presenters, or other attendants of the workshop.

"New Developments in Russian Moderate and Radical Nationalism" Workshop Guidelines:

- Presentation/discussion languages: Russian & English without translation
- Four thematic panels, each with 3-4 presentations, i.e. 12-16 presentations
- Presentation time: 3/4 papers x 15/8-10 minutes - overall 45 minutes per panel
- Q & A per panel: 45 minutes
- Presentations format: narrowly focused, empirical statements on specific, partial aspects of the workshop's overall topic, i.e. no general surveys or essayistic assessments
- Presentation titles: as specific as possible, i.e. no philosophical or abstract phrases, with a main and a subheading

- Emil Pain, Higher School of Economics, Moscow: "Ideas of Russian Nationalism in the Rhetoric of Liberal Russian Politicians: A. Navalny's and V. Milov's LiveJournals, 2010-2013"
- Vladimir Pribylovsky, Panorama Center, Moscow: "Religious Divisions in Current Russian Nationalism"
- Anton Shekhovtsov, University College London: "Western Sources of Neo-Eurasianism: Recent Findings on Alexander Dugin and the European New Right, 1989-1994"
- Victor Shnirelman, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow: "Russian Nationalism Today: A Shift towards Cultural Racism"
- Elena Strukova, Sova Center, Moscow: "Party Building on the Far Right of Russia's Ideological Spectrum"
- Andreas Umland, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine: "Russian 'Uncivil Society' and New Extreme Right Intellectual Circles During Putin's Third Presidency"
