BERLINER REPUBLIK:
REFLECTIONS ON / OF GERMAN UNIFICATION
CONFERERENCE @ THE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI
5 – 7 OCTOBER 2015
“Now what belongs together will grow together,”
Willy Brandt’s signature statement expressed the aspirations of Germans for unification. Now, 25 years after the fact, papers presented at the Cincinnati conference will address the current status of German unification. A conference proceedings is planned.
Reflections on German unification might focus on the following topic areas:
-the realization of unification in the thinking and actions of the various chancellors since 1990;
-regionalism in unified Germany, to include the continued relevance of the East / West divide;
-the status of unified Germany within a united Europe, to include an examination of Germany’s foreign policy initiatives;
-aesthetic responses – literature, art, music, film, architecture – to German unification;
-among many other topics.
Submit a 300-word abstract of a proposed paper to both

Include a brief CV listing relevant published research by 15 January 2015
