The German Politics Specialist Group of the PSA invites proposals for papers for a one-day workshop on the theme of ‘Change and Transition in German Politics’.
The workshop will be held at the University of Birmingham on Friday 25 November 2016.

About one year before the next Bundestag elections, the German political landscape is undergoing significant and often rapid changes while core policy fields are affected by major transitions.
This one-day workshop will explore the current state of German politics while also paying attention to major changes and transitions in politics and policy.
We welcome paper proposals on the theme of ‘Change and Transition in German Politics’, for example on the following topics:

A German Europe or a European Germany?
German politics and Brexit
The decline of the Volksparteien
The rise of populist parties and extra-parliamentary movements
The ‘refugee crisis’ and its impact on German politics
The political impact of energy transition (Energiewende)

Please submit an abstract of no more than 300 words to Ivor Bolton (IMB127@bham.ac.uk) by 30 August 2016.
Also contact Ivor should you have any questions on the workshop, its organisation or thematic orientation.
Early career researchers and doctoral students are particularly encouraged to contribute to the workshop.

We are very honoured that Professor William Paterson (OBE AcSS FRSE FRSA), Honorary Professor of German and European Politics at Aston University Birmingham, will give a keynote address at the workshop.

Morning and afternoon refreshments and a buffet lunch will be provided by the GPSG.

We look forward to receiving your abstracts and welcoming you to Birmingham!
