The focus of the workshop is the transformation of public administration in the successor states after the dissolution of the monarchy, with particular attention to the administrative personnel. One of the
key questions in the case of the Republic of Austria has proved to be the role of nationality and/or citizenship in determining eligibility to continue to serve in the new administration. We will discuss whether this was also a major issue in other successor states. If yes, how was it handled? If not, what were the urgent issues regarding public servants?

The presentation of the latest issue of Administory, Journal for the History of Public Administration, will conclude the workshop.
