The third meeting of Leituras da Escandinávia Medieval, a research group including Brazilian, Argentinian and German scholars, will focus on the theme of translating texts and contexts from the medieval Northern Europe, broadly understood to include the European societies and literate cultures North of the Mediterranean.
It will take place in two different venues: the Museu Histórico Nacional in Rio de Janeiro (October 11th, 2019), and the Instituto Multidisciplinario de Historia y Ciencias Humanas in Buenos Aires (October 15th-16th, 2019)
The meeting invites scholars and students to present papers on the medieval cultures of Northern Europe. The main focus will be on the issues of translation and interpretation of written sources, but proposals about other aspects of these societies will also be considered.
Prospective participants should submit an 300-400 words abstract, that will be reviewed by the organising committee. Given the binational character of the event, please specify your preferred venue for delivering your paper. The deadline for abstracts is May 1st 2019, and the acceptance of proposals is scheduled for May 17th 2019.
