Im Rahmen der MURN Public-Lectures-Series "Gefährdungen und die Neu-/Umordnung städtischer Räume" gehen wir der Frage nach, inwieweit Gefährdungen, ihre Wahrnehmung und der Umgang mit ihnen städtische Vergesellschaftung prägen und in welcher Weise sie dies tun. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf der Gestaltung städtischer Räume und auf Praktiken des spatial (re-)ordering. Die Neu- bzw. Umordnung städtischer Räume erweist sich in vielen Fällen als Folge der Auseinandersetzung mit faktualen wie fiktiven, vergangenen, gegenwärtigen und zukünftigen Gefahren. Die Vorträge werden das Oberthema aus unterschiedlichen disziplinären und epochalen Perspektiven in den Blick nehmen. Die Spanne reicht von der Antike bis zur Gegenwart, von Europa und Nordamerika bis China.
Wir versprechen uns von der interdisziplinären Auseinandersetzung mit dem Zusammenhang von Gefährdungen und räumlicher Neu-/Umordnung neue Erkenntnisse über die Bedingungen von städtischer Vergesellschaftung und Selbstbeschreibung in unterschiedlichen Epochen und Gesellschaften. Denn das städtische Zusammenleben und seine Grundlagen werden immer auch über dasjenige reflektiert, was jeweils als Gefährdung gilt, aber auch darüber, inwieweit Städte und bestimmte städtische, zumal subalterne, Räume als Orte spezifischer Gefährdungen angesehen werden.
Im Sommersemester 2021 liegt der Schwerpunkt der Vorträge der Public-Lecture-Series auf (Umwelt- bzw. Natur-)Katastrophen, im Wintersemester 2021/22 auf Konflikt, Widerstand und Protest als zwei spezifischen Ausprägungen von (städtischen) Gefährdungen.
