The Centre pour l’Édition électronique ouverte (CLEO), a CNRS center, organizes the 18 and 19 may 2010 a user-generated “unconference” called THATCamp Paris, which will be held at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), 96-105 boulevard Raspail, F-75006 Paris.
The Humanities And Technology Camp (THATCamp) was originally held at the Center for history and new media (CHNM, George Mason University). An unconference is “a conference where the content of the sessions is created and managed by the participants, generally day-by-day during the course of the event, rather than by one or more organizers in advance of the event.” (Wikipedia) An unconference is not a spectator event. Participants in an unconference are expected to present their work, share their knowledge, and actively collaborate with fellow participants rather than simply attend.
The aim of THATCamp Paris is to participate to the development of the Digital Humanities community. Workshops will be held both in French and English to open the unconference to non-French-speaking participants. For more information, please go to the THATCamp Paris Website: http://tcp.hypotheses.org (texts will be soon translated into English). Registrations are open through the THATCamp Paris Wiki: http://www.digitalhumanities.fr/wikis/tcp/index.php?title=Accueil. Don’t hesitate to suggest a workshop.
The conference is strongly supported by the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe (CVCE, Luxembourg) and the Institut Français du Proche Orient (IFPO, Damas).
