im Laboratorium Aufklärung
Die interdisziplinäre Doktorandenschule „Laboratorium Aufklärung“ der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena vergibt zum 1. Oktober 2008 bis zu
15 Promotionsstipendien
im Bereich der Geistes-, Sozial-, Rechts- und Kulturwissenschaften sowie der Ev. Theologie. In der Doktoranden¬schule werden schwerpunktmäßig Themen des langen 18. Jahrhunderts, der Gegenwart und des Vergleichs der beiden Zeiträume untersucht.
Sie bietet neben einem Stipendium (1000 Euro zzgl. Sachkosten) ein interdisziplinäres Netzwerk, eine fachlich einschlägige Betreuung, ein Coaching-Programm (nach individuellem Bedarf) und einen historisch wie gegenwärtig anregenden Lebensort. Erwartet werden überdurchschnittliche Studienleistungen und das Interesse, sich methodisch und inhaltlich auf das interdisziplinäre Anliegen der Doktorandenschule einzulassen. Jena’s ‘Laboratory of the Enlightenment’
The ‘Laboratory of the Enlightenment’ – the new interdisciplinary doctoral school at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena – proposes to award
15 doctoral scholarships
to young scholars interested in writing a dissertation on either the long 18th century or the present day, or on a topic that develops a comparative view of both the eighteenth century and the present day. The subject of the dissertation must fall within the following fields: the humanities (including cultural studies and Lutheran Protestant theology), the social sciences or law.
Successful applicants will receive a package that includes a monthly stipend (EUR 1000, plus certain research expenses), expert supervision by an academic of standing in the applicant’s field, a supervision programme tailored to the applicant’s needs, access to an interdisciplinary network of scholars, along with the opportunity to be based in an exciting location with a remarkable history. Successful applicants will be expected to have above-average grades and a readiness to relate to doctoral school’s interdisciplinary focus in terms of both methodology and subject. In addition to an up-to-date CV and a completed application form, applicants must include copies of their tertiary qualification and grade transcripts (if available), a copy of any written work submitted for examination at tertiary level, a description of their course of study to date and an outline of the project they are proposing to pursue with us.
