Senior Fellow-Stipendien des Landes Niedersachsen 2014-2016 an der Herzog August Bibliothek
Die Herzog August Bibliothek ist eine außeruniversitäre Forschungseinrichtung mit einem vielfältigen wissenschaftlichen und kulturellen Angebot (www.hab.de). Die Bibliothek verfügt über reiche Quellen vom Mittelalter bis zur Frühen Neuzeit und kann Stipendien für die Erforschung ihrer Bestände vergeben. Das Land Niedersachsen setzt ein erfolgreich initiiertes Projekt für weitere drei Jahre fort, um neben den bestehenden Wolfenbütteler Stipendienprogrammen ein interdisziplinär ausgerichtetes internationales Senior Fellow-Programm zu etablieren. Damit soll der generationenübergreifende Austausch unter den in Wolfenbüttel Forschenden verstärkt werden. Ausgewiesene Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus dem In- und Ausland mit langjähriger Erfahrung in Forschung und Lehre werden zu Aufenthalten zwischen einem und drei Monaten eingeladen. Das monatliche Stipendium beträgt € 2.700. Ein Zuschuss zu den An- und Abreisekosten wird gewährt. Es besteht Residenzpflicht, und die Bibliothek verfügt über preiswerte Gästequartiere.
Wünschenswert wäre, dass Fellows an Projekten arbeiten, die einen Zusammenhang zu den an der Herzog August Bibliothek gebildeten Forschungsschwerpunkten aufweisen. Dabei handelt es sich vor allem um Wissensordnungen im Mittelalter und in der Frühen Neuzeit, Institutionengeschichte, Politik und Medien sowie Kulturtransfer innerhalb Europas und in globalen Netzwerken. Weitere Themen sind die Materialität des Buches und der Umgang mit Bildquellen.

Senior Fellows Programme 2014-2016 at the Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel
The Herzog August Bibliothek is an independent research centre offering a wide range of scholarly and cultural programmes (www.hab.de). The library has rich resources of books manuscripts and is able to award fellowships to promote research in the areas of medieval and early modern cultural history. The State of Lower Saxony has successfully initiated an international and interdisciplinary Senior Fellows Programme which will be prolonged for another three years. The aim is to bring experienced senior researchers and younger scholars together in the informal atmosphere of the Wolfenbüttel community of guest researchers. Senior Fellows scholarships are awarded for one to three months. The monthly fellowship is 2.700 Euros and a small travel subsidy is given towards the cost of travelling to and from Wolfenbüttel. The fellowship has a residence requirement and the library has its own rental accommodation for guest researchers.
The library would welcome applications from scholars whose projects are closely linked to the research profiles of the library's holdings and its own projects. These include European cultures of knowledge in the medieval and early modern period, the history of institutions, politics and media, and cultural transfer within Europe and in global networks. Other fields of interest are the material culture of the book and the use of imagery in texts.
The programme is addressed to experienced senior scholars both from Germany and abroad whose publications have made a significant contribution to current research and methodology.
