The Institute of Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology at the University of Münster (WWU), Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a

Senior Lecturer (salary level TV-L E 13, 100%)

commencing on 1 April 2022. We are offering a permanent full-time position (100 %) for an unlimited period. Full-time employees are required to teach 8 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

- teaching (8 hrs/week during semester) and administering exams in the BA Cultural and Social Anthropology and the MA Cultural Anthropology
- teaching in the fields of theories of culture and society, historical research, introductory courses, methodology (historical research, introduction to basic skills)
- participation in academic self-administration
- student counselling (in the Institute’s BA- and MA- program mesof the Institute)
- coordination of the Institute’s ERASMUS-programme
- organisation of events
- digitisation of teaching (development of new formats)
- administration of the practical training units in our BA- and MA -programmes and student counselling on practical training
- presentation and communication of the Institute’s BA- and MA- programmes (Flyer, Web, Social Media)
- organisation of the Institute’s BA- and the MA- programmes

Our expectations:

- A completed PhD in Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology/ Empirische Kulturwissenschaft or in a related discipline (e.g. History, History of Science, Cultural Geography)
- Expertise in cultural-historical, historical-anthropological research or in the history of knowledge
- Experience in historical research with archival sources and/or with museum collections
- an international horizon of research and teaching
- first publications
- teaching experience
- Excellent English and excellent German speaking and writing skills

In addition, the following skills are desirable:

- Experience in teaching in English and German
- Experience in public anthropology / public history work (Archives, Museums, exhibitions)
- Experience with Digital Hhumanities (museums, collections, archives, exhibitions, education, social media)
- team-oriented, good communication skills, organisational skills
