It serves as a catalyst for innovative and creative scholarship and new forms of public dissemination and societal engagement with history.

The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) has one job opening for a doctoral candidate (PhD student) to work on a new project called BUREU, a collaborative research project on Bureaucracy by Design? EU Office Interiors as an Interface Between Architectural “Hardware” and Managerial “Software”, 1951-2002. The historical research project BUREU will investigate which design choices were made in relation to the interiors of EC/EU office buildings in Luxembourg, Brussels, and Strasbourg, and this for the period between the early 1950s and the early 2000s. More concretely, BUREU will seek to answer the question which managerial ideas were at the root of these office interior designs and in so doing will contribute to a new history of the EC/EU. BUREU is a collaboration between C2DH and the Department of History at the KU Leuven (Prof. Martin Kohlrausch). Next to two PhD positions (one in Leuven, one in Luxembourg), a Post-Doc researcher will complement the research team.
