Part-Time Lecturer in “Ancient Art”

New York University (NYU) Berlin is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a course entitled “Ancient Art in Berlin: Discovering the Collections of Museum Island”.

The course corresponds to an art history class taught at NYU New York that focuses on the fundamentals of ancient art as well as its role in modern society, including principles of and innovations in museum display and other instrumentalizations of ancient art for contemporary uses, as well as questions of provenance. The NYU Berlin version provides an overview of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman art as represented in the world-class collections of antiquities on Berlin's Museum Island. The course is taught in English, meets once per week for three hours, and runs approximately from September 1 to December 19, 2022.

Candidates should have a track record of academic publications in the field and be passionate about teaching a very diverse cohort of undergraduate students. As the course is open to students from any major, the course content and pedagogy should ensure accessibility for a variety of students. NYU is committed to providing a campus community that reflects and enacts the values of inclusion, diversity, belonging, and equity, which inform academic excellence. The lecturer is expected to support and promote this commitment both in and outside of the classroom.

- A diverse, engaged and welcoming team.
- A remuneration of approximately 5,500€ based on prior experience.
