Job description:
Independent research at postdoctoral/habilitation level in the area of mining archaeology and research on resources in alpine regions with a focus on cultural and diachronic comparison, based on archaeological fieldwork and the employment of scientific methods; independent acquisition of third-party funding; dissemination of research (conference contributions/lectures, publications); research-led teaching; (co-)supervision of BA and MA theses; successful completion of advanced training in university didactics; participation in academic administration; organization of academic events (conferences, lectures).
Required qualification:
- Doctoral degree in archaeology with a specialization in mining archaeology and research on resources
- Pertinent academic achievements beyond the dissertation/PhD; relevant professional and/or postdoctoral experience
- Relevant international publications (peer-reviewed or equivalent quality assurance); please submit 3 relevant publications (PDF) with your application
- Teaching competence; ability to teach in German at C2-level must be acquired within 2 years of taking up employment; teaching experience desirable (in particular in mining archaeology and research on resources)
- Competences in interdisciplinary synthesis at the intersection of the humanities and the natural sciences
- Competences in one or more areas of archaeometry (geology of mineral deposits, mineralogy, archaeometallurgy, bioarchaeology, geoarchaeology, etc.) desirable
- Research experience in several epochs (Pre- and Protohistory, Antiquity, Middle Ages, Modern Period) in Europe desirable
- Experience in (contributing to) third-party funding acquisition
- Willingness to collaborate on research projects of the Department of Archaeologies and to participate in research networks of the University of Innsbruck (e.g. the research centre HiMAT)

Tenure-Track model:
The vacant post offers a continuous scientific career up to an associate professor. A key component of this tenure track model is the so called "Qualifizierungsvereinbarung" (qualification agreement). Salary:
An initial salary of 4.062,00 EUR shall be offered for this position. In the following, the conclusion of the qualification agreement will entitle to an increased salary of 4.599,60 EUR and the fulfilment of the agreed qualification objectives will entitle to an increased salary of 4.987,20 EUR.
