Four PhD students in History of Science, Technology and Environment

We seek four PhD students for the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment, School of Architecture and the Built Environment, KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

At the Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment, we carry out research in history of technology, environmental history and history of science. We also conduct industrial and cultural heritage research as well as historical science and technology studies. The doctoral program reflects the research scope of the Division and offers possibilities for specialization in several areas and for cross-cutting research. The program aims to provide a broad overview of the field as well as in depth theoretical and methodological education. Its main purpose is to offer a basis for further independent academic research as well as the tools for using the acquired skills outside the academic sphere.

The current PhD positions are placed within a newly established initiative at the Division, the KTH Environmental Humanities Laboratory. The Laboratory aims at creating a post-disciplinary environment in which teaching, research and PhD education are integrated to modernize and develop the humanities for sustainable development.

Qualifications
You are eligible if you have a master’s degree or have the corresponding skills and knowledge as well as proof of your ability to author a longer essay relevant to the research area. By research area we mean the wider group of disciplines and interests indicated above. We expect you to read, write and speak English fluently.
