Im Rahmen des Forschungsprojektes „Theatrescapes. Mapping Global Theatre Histories“ (LMU excellent) (Leitung: Prof. Dr. Christopher Balme & Dr. Nic Leonhardt) ist an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München die Stelle einer wissenschaftlichen Hilfskraft mit Abschluss in Informatik, Computerlinguistik oder verwandter Disziplinen zu besetzen.

AUFGABEN
Das Projekt „Theatrescapes. Mapping Global Theatre Histories“ verknüpft in interdisziplinärer und kollaborativer Weise die Fragestellungen globaler Geschichte und transnationaler Theorie mit den digitalen Geisteswissenschaften / Digital Humanities (DH). Mit Hilfe einer relationalen Datenbank auf der Basis von Geo- und Chrono-Referenzierung sollen globaler Austausch und translokale Dynamisierungen im Bereich des Theaters seit dem Zeitraum der so genannten ersten Phase der Globalisierung (1850-1920) erfasst, eingehend analysiert und intelligent abgebildet werden.
Die Aufgaben der Kandidatin/ des Kandidaten bestehen in der Konzeption, Entwicklung einer Datenbank-Infrastruktur (Datenbanksystem: phpAdmin; in SQL (Standard Query Language), die die Forschungsfragen des Projektes berücksichtigt und neue Methoden der computergestützten geisteswissenschaftlichen Forschung erarbeiten hilft. Die Beteiligung an gemeinschaftlichen wissenschaftlichen Veranstaltungen des Projektteams wird erwartet. Die Möglichkeit zur Lehre ist gegeben.
ANFORDERUNGEN
sehr guter Hochschulabschluss
Beherrschung der Arbeitssprachen Deutsch und Englisch (je auf einem akademisch adäquaten Niveau); Textverständnis weiterer europäischer und außereuropäischer Sprachen ist von Vorteil
Beherrschung der gängigsten Programmiersprachen
Ausgeprägtes Interesse an der interdisziplinären Forschung und Lehre
Ausgeprägtes Interesse an historischer Netzwerkforschung und DH
Erfahrung in der Programmierung von Datenbanken und Visualisierung sowie in der Arbeit in einem interdisziplinären Team
Die Stelle ist zunächst auf 1 Jahr befristet.

The Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) is one of the most famous and largest universities in Germany.
TASKS
The research project “Theatrescapes. Mapping Global Theatre Histories” combines in an interdisciplinary and collaborative perspective questions of global history and transnational theory with the paradigm of Digital Humanities (DH). With the aid of a chrono- and georeferential database, global exchange and translocal dynamics in the area of theatre during the so-called first phase of globalisation (1850-1920) will be collected, mapped and analysed.
The successful candidate will develop a database and a web-based graphic interface in close collaboration with the team and according to the research questions and methods of the research project. S/He will be expected to participate in workshops and meetings of the international research team. The possibility for teaching will also be available.
REQUIREMENTS
A very good masters degree in the fields of computer science, computer linguistics or a related discipline
Knowledge of the working languages German and English at a proficient academic level; basic knowledge of any other European or Non-European language
Strong interest in interdisciplinary research and teaching
Strong interest in the fields of transnational history, network analysis and DH
Ability to work in teams
The position is initially limited to a period of 1 year.
Your workplace is situated in the center of Munich and can be reached very easily with public transportation. We offer an interesting and challenging position with the possibility of further training and development.
