The Classics Department at the University of Bern invites applications for
a postdoc position, 1 year, 100%
starting on May 1, 2016 (ideally).
The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary project on the medieval reception of the Jewish-Roman historian Flavius Josephus involving the fields of Classics, Jewish Studies and Church History.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in one of the three fields and have thorough knowledge in at least two of the classical languages Latin, Hebrew, and Greek. The main task of the successful candidate will be to help set up a grant application for a project tentatively entitled “Crossing Borders: The Latin Josephus and its Christian and Jewish Reception”.
