The Collaborative Research Center (CRC) „Future Rural Africa. Future-making and social-ecological transformation“ combines expertise from the two Universities of Bonn and Cologne to study newly emerging issues of social-ecological transformation and future-making in Africa. Project C06 „Testing Future“ invites applications for a position of a postdoctoral reseacher.

YOUR TASKS
- The sucessful candidate will design and conduct longterm field research on migration as a key-strategy of future- making during land-use change in the Rift-Valley, Kenya.
- S/he will be expected to produce project-related publications and to present the findings to colleagues and at conferences. Participation in and contribution to regular team meetings in Cologne and Bonn are required.
- Experience with camera-ethnographical methods is desirable.

YOUR PROFILE
- Completed Ph.D. thesis in Social/Cultural Anthropology or related disciplinary background as of April 1 2019
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivation, enthusiasm and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Knowledge of and experience with ethnographic research methods
- Fitness for travel and work in the tropics, including
- long-term fieldwork in remote places
- Study, work and/or travel experience in the Global-South, preferably Africa

OF ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGE ARE
- solid experience in the use of audio-visual media in anthropological field research, knowledge of camera- ethnographic methodologies, background in practice- theory

The position is available from 01.04.2019 or earlier on a full-time basis. It is limited to the 31. December 2020. If the applicant meets the relevant wage requirements and personal qualifications, the salary is based on remuneration group 13 TV-L of the pay scale for the German public sector.
