The Faculty of Philosophy and History, Department of History, at Goethe University Frankfurt welcomes applications for the following position starting January 1st, 2017:
full professorship (salary scale W3) in the history and consequences of the holocaust.
The chair in the department of history is combined with the position of the
director (m/f) of the Fritz Bauer Institute.
The institute is an interdisciplinary, independent research, documentation and education centre on the history and consequences of the holocaust associated with Goethe University as an affiliated institute.
The successful appointee’s field will be the comprehensive history of national-socialist mass crimes – particularly the holocaust – and their consequences until the present. A leading role in existing and future collaborative research projects of the Fritz Bauer Institute, the department of history and the university as well as in academic self-administration is expected. A habilitation or an equivalent academic record as well as teaching experience are required. The teaching load will be reduced to allow for the position‘s administrative role.
The successful candidate can be appointed as a civil servant or enter into an equivalent employment contract. The designated salary for the position is based on “W3” on the German university scale or equivalent. An der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main ist im Fachbereich Philosophie und Geschichtswissenschaften am Historischen Seminar zum 01. Januar 2017 folgende Stelle im Beamten- bzw. äquivalent im Angestelltenverhältnis zu besetzen:
Professur (W3) zur Erforschung der Geschichte und Wirkung des Holocaust.
Die ordentliche Professur am Historischen Seminar ist zugleich verbunden mit der Position der/des Direktorin/Direktors des Fritz Bauer Instituts.
Das Institut ist eine interdisziplinär ausgerichtete, unabhängige Forschungs-, Dokumentations- und Bildungseinrichtung zur Geschichte und Wirkung des Holocaust und ist als An-Institut der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main assoziiert.
Aufgabe der Professur ist die umfassende historische Erforschung der nationalsozialistischen Massenverbrechen - insbesondere des Holocaust - und ihrer Wirkungen bis in die Gegenwart. Die verantwortliche Mitwirkung in bestehenden und künftigen Forschungsverbünden des Fritz Bauer Instituts, des Historischen Seminars und der Universität sowie in der akademischen Selbstverwaltung wird erwartet. Habilitation oder habilitationsäquivalente Leistungen in Neuester Geschichte sowie Lehrerfahrung werden vorausgesetzt. Vorgesehen ist aufgrund der zu übernehmenden Leitungsfunktion am Fritz Bauer Institut eine Lehrreduktion.
